The City of Berkeley, California, is strategically implementing new public works programs to achieve their zero landfilled waste goal, in support of the City’s Climate Action Plan.

One key initiative driving these efforts is the digital transformation and modernization of the City’s asset maintenance management and work order functions—strengthening infrastructure, facilities, and amenities.

01 Challenge.

The City of Berkeley needed to upgrade its asset management system in order to improve services and meet the objectives of their Climate Action Plan.

The legacy system was disconnected, purely reactive in nature, and lacked the technology to keep up with the dynamic demands of a city focused on being a true leader in the fight against climate change.

Field personnel were bogged down by manual processes that required extensive paperwork, outdated data capture and entry methods, and travel to the location of every asset inspection point.
